A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.

He made the announcement on Friday during a visit to the APC leadership in Bauchi Local Government Area.

Dr. Wunti said people across the state urged him to run.

He explained that his decision was not based on personal ambition. Instead, he responded to calls from citizens and stakeholders.

“Allah knows, I accepted to contest because of the pressure to help our unemployed youth and protect the next generation,” he said.

The aspirant reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.

He promised an inclusive administration if elected. He also pledged equal opportunities and sustainable development across the state.

Coordinator of the Bala Wunti Movement, Yahaya Mohammed Miya, introduced him to party stakeholders. He said the visit aimed to strengthen party ties.

APC Chairman of Bauchi LGA, Alhaji Biyali, described Wunti as a respected figure. He praised his contributions to human development and mentorship.

“His record speaks for itself,” Biyali said.

The chairman assured all aspirants of a level playing field ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wunti’s entry is expected to shape early political alignments in Bauchi State.
