Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Tijjani Lawan Kukawa and Abubakar Umar Mazhinyi as Special Advisers.
The governor also appointed Maina Bukar Gajiram as Permanent Commissioner in the Borno State House of Assembly Service Commission.
Kukawa previously served as a member of the Borno State House of Assembly, representing Kukawa Constituency during the Third Republic.
He also worked as Special Adviser on Education to the governor between 2020 and 2023.
Kukawa has held several public service positions in the state.
These include membership of the Governing Council of Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri and the Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

He began his career as an Agricultural Extension Officer and rose to the position of Acting Permanent Secretary.
Kukawa holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maiduguri.
Also appointed Special Adviser is Mazhinyi, the immediate past Executive Chairman of Askira/Uba Local Government Area.
He holds a Master’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Maiduguri.
Mazhinyi is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Studies at the same institution.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration.
Governor Zulum also appointed Gajiram as Permanent Commissioner of the Assembly Service Commission.
The appointment took effect from February 17, 2026.
It followed confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.
The governor said the appointments were made in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and relevant state laws.
Zulum congratulated the appointees and urged them to serve with dedication and integrity.
He said the appointments are aimed at strengthening governance and development in Borno State.
