Zulum Appoints Kori as DG of Borno Investment Agency

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has appointed Dr Sa’id Alkali Kori as the Director-General of the Borno State Investment Promotion Agency.

The appointment takes immediate effect and will run for an initial four-year term.

Dr Kori is an entrepreneur and infrastructure finance expert. He holds a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences from the University of London.

He currently serves as Honorary Special Adviser on International Relations and Investment to the Governor of Yobe State. He is also Technical Adviser to the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum.

Dr Kori leads Thinklab Group Limited as Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Nigeria Food Corporation.

According to the state government, he has structured over $200 million in financing for projects in housing, healthcare and road infrastructure.

Governor Zulum also appointed Laminu Lawan Awana, Abubakar Ahmed Askira and Danladi Alfaki Isa as members of the agency’s governing board.

The three members will represent the state’s senatorial zones.

The appointments follow the Borno State Investment Promotion Law 2026 (as amended).

Governor Zulum said the new leadership will help attract investment and promote public-private partnerships in the state.

He added that the agency will support economic recovery and long-term development in Borno.
