VP Shettima Visits Borno Bomb Blast Survivors (Video)

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, visited survivors of the recent bomb blast that occurred at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, pledging stronger collaboration between the Federal and State Governments to address insecurity and protect citizens.

Speaking at the Muhammadu Buhari Trauma Centre in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where some victims are being treated, Senator Shettima conveyed the sympathies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the attack as a “senseless act of violence” against innocent Nigerians.

“The Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to secure the lives and property of our citizens,” the Vice President said, assuring that ongoing security operations will be intensified. “By the grace of God, this madness will soon be brought to an end,” he added.

The Vice President commended Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, for what he called steadfast efforts in managing security and humanitarian concerns in the state.

He stressed that the Federal Government will continue to work closely with state authorities to achieve long-term peace and restore normalcy to affected communities.

A briefing from the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital management confirmed that 14 victims were admitted following the incident, one was confirmed dead on arrival, seven remain on admission including one in intensive care, while five others have been treated and discharged.

VP Shettima affirmed that the administration’s national security framework will continue to prioritise intelligence coordination, protection of vulnerable areas, and reinforcement of operational capacity across the North-East.
