U.S. Military Personnel Arrive in Nigeria -DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the arrival of approximately 100 United States military personnel and related equipment at Bauchi Airfield as part of a bilateral security cooperation initiative.

The announcement was made by Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, who stated that the deployment followed a formal request by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to the DHQ, the U.S. personnel are technical specialists serving strictly in an advisory and training capacity.

The collaboration is aimed at Enhancing military training capabilities, Providing technical assistance, Strengthening intelligence sharing, Improving counterterrorism strategies and Protecting vulnerable communities across Nigeria

All training activities will be conducted under the authority and direction of the Nigerian government in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The Defence Headquarters reassured Nigerians of transparency, stating that clear and timely updates will continue to be provided regarding the military cooperation efforts.

Security analysts note that this development comes amid ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and terrorism in various parts of the country.
