Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and strengthening social cohesion across the country as Christians celebrate Christmas.
In his Christmas message issued on Thursday, Tuggar extended warm felicitations to Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora, describing the season as a period of reflection, renewal, and deeper appreciation of the nation’s shared values.

The Minister emphasized that Christmas represents a moment to recommit to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and collective responsibility in safeguarding the country’s stability. He noted that these values align with Nigeria’s multi-religious identity and diverse cultural heritage.
Tuggar stated that the Federal Government will continue to reinforce policies and strengthen institutions responsible for protecting citizens’ rights to worship, while also ensuring peaceful interactions among different faith groups.
He added that Nigeria’s unity and national strength lie in its diversity, urging citizens to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation.
As the year comes to a close, the Minister wished Christians a peaceful celebration and a prosperous New Year.
