U.S. President Donald Trump has addressed rising global oil prices, saying the United States benefits economically as the world’s largest oil producer, but stressed that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains his administration’s top priority.

In a statement, Trump said higher oil prices can generate significant revenue for the United States.

However, he emphasised that national and global security concerns outweigh the economic gains.

Trump’s remarks come as oil prices have surged due to escalating tensions involving Iran in the Middle East.

Disruptions to shipping routes and military activity in the region have pushed crude oil prices close to or above $100 per barrel, raising concerns about global energy supply and inflation.

Trump has repeatedly framed the conflict with Iran as part of a broader strategy to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

The U.S. government argues that Iran’s expanding uranium enrichment program poses a major security threat in the region.

Washington’s policy toward Iran under Trump’s current administration includes renewed sanctions and military pressure aimed at forcing Tehran to halt nuclear development and return to negotiations.

Analysts warn that continued conflict could further disrupt global oil markets and increase economic pressure worldwide.

At the same time, the escalating standoff between the United States and Iran is raising fears of a wider regional confrontation in the Middle East.
