United States President Donald Trump has posted an artificial intelligence–generated video depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys.

Trump shared the video on his Truth Social platform on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The content, which circulated rapidly across social media platforms, portrays the Obamas using imagery widely condemned as racist, prompting public criticism and renewed debate over the use of artificial intelligence in political communication.

As of Friday, the video remained visible on Trump’s Truth Social account, where it drew reactions from supporters and critics alike.

Civil rights advocates and political commentators described the video as offensive and dehumanising, noting the long history of racist tropes used against Black public figures in the United States.

The post has also raised concerns about the growing misuse of AI-generated media, particularly by political leaders, and the potential for such content to inflame social tensions.

Neither Barack Obama nor Michelle Obama had issued a public response to the video as of the time of this report.

The White House has also not released an official statement addressing the post or the backlash surrounding it.

Trump, who has frequently used social media to attack political opponents, has faced repeated criticism over inflammatory online rhetoric throughout his political career.

The incident adds to ongoing national conversations about digital ethics, political accountability, and the boundaries of acceptable speech by public office holders.
