Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran over any attempt to disrupt global oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement shared online, Trump said the United States would respond forcefully if Iran blocks the flow of oil through the critical shipping route.

Trump said any move by Iran to halt oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a strong response from the United States.

“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States twenty times harder than they have been hit thus far,” he said.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors. A significant share of global oil exports passes through the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to international markets.

Trump also warned that the United States could target key Iranian infrastructure if tensions escalate further.

He said such actions could make it difficult for Iran to rebuild certain strategic capabilities.

However, Trump added that he hopes the situation does not escalate into a wider conflict.

Any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have serious consequences for global energy markets.

Major oil-importing countries, including China and several Asian economies, depend heavily on shipments that pass through the waterway.

Analysts say rising tensions in the region could increase volatility in global oil prices and heighten geopolitical risks.
