Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ₦3.8 million ransom during a coordinated operation in Kogi State.

According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the operation was conducted on November 2, 2025, by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma.

The troops reportedly acted on credible intelligence about kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis, where relatives of some abducted persons were said to be attempting to deliver ransom payments.

A gun battle ensued, during which the troops overpowered the bandits, forcing them to abandon two victims and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds.

“Following the encounter, the troops rescued the victims and recovered the sum of ₦3,800,000 intended for ransom payment,” the statement said. “The rescued victims were immediately debriefed to aid further operations, while the recovered cash was handed back to them.”

Lieutenant Abdullahi added that the victims are currently safe and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kogi State and across the country, urging the public to continue providing credible information to aid ongoing counter-criminality operations.
