President Bola Tinubu has welcomed Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The president gave the message during a large gathering in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at the event.

Governor Lawal recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the APC. He said internal crises in his former party influenced his decision.

Tinubu praised the move and described it as a wise step. He said the decision would strengthen the ruling party in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.

The president assured residents that his government will intensify efforts to tackle insecurity in Zamfara.

He said the federal and state governments will work together to fight banditry and restore peace. According to him, better coordination will help security agencies perform more effectively.

Tinubu also expressed sympathy for victims of banditry and kidnapping in the region.

Several top political figures attended the event. They include the Deputy Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and APC governors.

The APC National Chairman officially presented the party flag to Governor Lawal and promised him full support.

Tinubu also commended former Zamfara leaders, including Bello Matawalle, for backing efforts to restore peace in the state.

The president called for unity among APC members in Zamfara. He said unity within the party will help deliver better governance and security.

He also expressed confidence that the APC will win future elections in the state, including the 2027 general elections.

Officials believe Lawal’s move to the APC will improve cooperation between federal and state authorities.

They say the new alignment could strengthen the fight against insecurity and bring lasting peace to Zamfara.
