President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt greetings to Christians and Muslims as Lent and Ramadan commence on the same day, describing the rare coincidence as a powerful reminder of Nigeria’s shared faith and unity.

In a State House press statement released on February 18, 2026, the President said the simultaneous observance highlights the common spiritual values that bind Nigerians together under God.

He explained that for Christians, Lent is a solemn period of fasting, abstinence, and repentance, following the example of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for humanity. Similarly, he noted that Ramadan represents a sacred time for Muslims, marked by fasting, devotion, sacrifice, and charity, in obedience to God’s command.

President Tinubu urged Nigerians to use the sacred seasons to promote peace, unity, and stability across the country.

He called on citizens to strengthen good neighborliness, pray for national progress, and remain faithful to the teachings of their respective religions.

The President also prayed that the lessons and blessings of Lent and Ramadan would bring lasting joy, harmony, and spiritual growth to the nation.
