President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has spoken with British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua following the fatal road accident that occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, leaving two members of his convoy dead.
In a phone conversation on Monday, President Tinubu expressed condolences to Joshua over the loss of his associates and offered prayers for his recovery.
The President also spoke with Joshua’s mother, reassuring the family of the Federal Government’s concern and support.

“I spoke with AJ on the phone to personally convey my condolences over the death of his two associates. I wished him well and prayed for him,” President Tinubu said. He added that Joshua confirmed he was “receiving the best care in the hospital.”
The President also held discussions with Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was present with Joshua at the hospital. Governor Abiodun reportedly assured the President that the state government is providing full medical and investigative support.
President Tinubu had earlier issued a public message via his official social media handle, describing the incident as “unfortunate” and commending Joshua’s courage, discipline, and contributions to national pride.
Two foreign nationals were confirmed dead at the scene, while Joshua and others sustained injuries and were taken to a medical facility for treatment. Authorities say investigations into the crash remain ongoing.
