President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate release of funds for the maintenance and upgrade of Nigeria’s space assets.

The order was issued during the first meeting of the National Space Council Nigeria.
The meeting took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The President was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
During the session, Tinubu approved that the cost of implementing the revised 25-year space roadmap be forwarded to the Federal Executive Council.
He stressed that funding must not be delayed. According to him, proper maintenance is critical to keeping Nigeria’s space infrastructure functional.
President Tinubu said Nigeria will not remain on the sidelines of global space exploration and services.
He explained that space technology must deliver practical value for citizens. For example, satellite systems can support precision agriculture and disaster early warning.
