President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the ban on exporting raw shea nuts.
The extension runs from February 26, 2026, to February 25, 2027, reinforcing Nigeria’s industrial development drive.
The decision aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on local value addition and export diversification.
The ban aims to boost domestic shea processing capacity and improve livelihoods in producing communities nationwide.
President Tinubu authorised the Industry, Trade and Investment Ministry and the Food Security Coordination Unit to coordinate implementation.

The President also approved the adoption of the Nigerian Commodity Exchange export framework for shea nuts.
All existing waivers permitting direct export of raw shea nuts have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
Any excess raw shea nut supply must be exported strictly through the NCX framework.
President Tinubu further directed the Finance Ministry to provide access to a dedicated NESS Support Window.
Shea nuts are processed into shea butter, widely used in cosmetics, food products, and pharmaceutical applications.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive growth, local manufacturing, and competitive agricultural exports.
