President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday night met with governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Osun State, urging them to unite and support the party’s consensus arrangement ahead of the December 13 primary election.
The meeting, held at the State House in Abuja, was attended by eight aspirants: former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

Also present were APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma; and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Tinubu urged the aspirants to avoid internal conflicts that could affect the party’s chances in the 2025 governorship election. He asked them to close ranks and support whichever candidate emerges from the consensus process.
At the end of the meeting, the aspirants and party leaders issued a joint statement pledging to abide by the party’s decision. They agreed to:
- uphold APC’s supremacy in determining the nomination process;
- accept the choice of a consensus candidate for affirmation at the December 13 primary;
- support the nominee in the election;
- maintain peace and cohesion within the party; and
- work collectively to secure victory for the APC in the state.
The party is expected to announce its consensus candidate ahead of the primary.
