Somalia has strengthened its global presence through a growing partnership with Türkiye. The country has recently secured key roles at the United Nations and the African Union.

Somalia’s Minister of Information, Daud Aweis Jama, disclosed this during an interview with TRT Afrika. He spoke at a panel titled “Türkiye–Somalia Relations Amid Global Transformation.”

The Turkish Presidency Directorate of Communications organised the event in Ankara on February 25.

Jama said Somalia’s cooperation with Türkiye has boosted its diplomatic profile. He explained that the partnership has created new opportunities for Somalia in global governance.

He noted that Türkiye has supported Somalia in infrastructure, security, and humanitarian services. The country has also assisted with institutional capacity building. According to him, this support has helped Somalia gain stability and respect on the global stage.

The minister added that the relationship reflects mutual trust and shared interests. He said the cooperation supports Somalia’s recovery and long-term development plans.

In recent years, both countries have expanded collaboration in political, economic, and security sectors. Observers say the partnership continues to shape Somalia’s international engagement and influence.
