Shettima Visits Maiduguri Bomb Blast Victims

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited victims of the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri.

Shettima met injured victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The explosions occurred on Monday in Maiduguri, affecting more than 100 people and leaving over 20 confirmed dead.

The Vice President condemned the attacks, describing the perpetrators as barbaric and unjustifiable.

He said the Federal Government remains determined to defeat terrorism across the country.

Shettima stated that those responsible for the attacks would be decisively confronted by security forces.

He noted that government is increasing investments in equipment and logistics for security agencies.

According to him, the move aims to strengthen operations against terrorist groups.

Shettima explained that his visit was to sympathise with the injured and affected families.

He also assured that the government would provide support to victims of the attack.

Assistance will involve agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency.

The support will also involve the North East Development Commission and the Borno State Government.

The Vice President was accompanied by Borno Deputy Governor Usman Kadafur.

Also present were NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar and UMTH Chief Medical Director Ahmed Ahijo.
