Shettima Launches Connect NextGen Hackathon to Boost AI

Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched the Connect NextGen Innovation Hackathon at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

Shettima was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia.

The programme was developed in partnership with global telecommunications company Ericsson.

Organisers said the initiative aims to position Nigeria as a global supplier of artificial intelligence and 5G solutions.

They added that the hackathon will help scale up digital innovation and technology-driven job creation.

The programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priorities on economic diversification and digital transformation.

Officials said participants will develop solutions that address real-world challenges using emerging technologies.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy and enhance global competitiveness.
