Staff members of S24 Television Abuja have undergone a comprehensive fire safety orientation conducted by officers of the Federal Fire Service in Abuja, aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness and prevention measures within the media organisation.
The Three-hour training session combined both theoretical lessons and practical demonstrations, exposing participants to essential fire prevention strategies, proper use of firefighting equipment, and emergency response procedures. Fire officers also engaged staff in interactive discussions, answering questions and clarifying safety concerns.
Staff members expressed excitement and appreciation for the timely initiative. One of the participants, Mr. Yahya Musa Shuaibu, ICT and Digital Media lead at S24, described the orientation as highly beneficial, noting that he learned valuable safety skills that could help protect lives and property. He also suggested introducing an easier-to-remember emergency contact number to enable faster response during fire incidents.
Another participant, Hadiza Galadima, shared her enthusiasm about the training, highlighting the practical aspect as particularly impactful. Other staff members also actively participated in the hands-on session and pledged to serve as safety ambassadors by applying the knowledge gained and promoting fire prevention measures within and beyond the workplace.
Similarly, Khadija Muhammad recommended that fire emergency services consider introducing a simplified toll-free emergency number in place of the current longer lines to enable quicker recall and response during emergencies.
The orientation forms part of ongoing efforts by fire safety authorities to educate institutions and the public on preventive measures and effective response, as stakeholders continue to emphasize the importance of safety awareness in reducing fire outbreaks.
