As the holy month of Ramadan begins, residents of Gombe State have made an emotional appeal to Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, urging his administration to reconsider the ban on motorcycle movement, which they say is worsening hardship among the poor.

In a heartfelt message shared by BabaSadiq Bs Media Concept, the residents acknowledged the government’s efforts to maintain the security of lives and property. However, they stressed that beyond physical security, economic survival has become the most urgent concern for ordinary citizens.

According to them, the motorcycle restriction, while introduced for security reasons, has deprived thousands of people of their daily source of income. Many commercial riders and small business operators now struggle to feed their families.

“With Ramadan coming, the common man needs ease of movement to attend Tafsir, seek food for breaking fast, and worship in peace,” the statement read. “Blocking transportation now feels like blocking the road to survival.”

Ramadan is traditionally a period marked by increased religious activities, charity, and community gatherings. For many low-income earners, motorcycles remain the only affordable means of transportation and livelihood.

The appeal called on the governor to show compassion and temporarily relax the restriction in the spirit of Ramadan, emphasizing that leadership is rooted in empathy and care for the people.

Residents expressed hope that their plea would reach the governor and that urgent steps would be taken to ease their suffering during the sacred month.

They concluded with prayers for the state’s peace and for Allah to guide the leadership toward decisions that would bring relief to the people.
