The Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, has employed 253 sanitation workers under the Bichi First Environmental Sanitation Initiative to strengthen public hygiene, environmental sustainability, and climate-related response efforts across the constituency.

The workers were inaugurated on Sunday in Bichi during an event attended by APC caucus members, political appointees, ward executives, community leaders, and residents.

The initiative aims to improve sanitation standards, enhance public health awareness, and promote active community participation in environmental cleanliness.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Abubakar Kabir, who also chairs the House Committee on Appropriations, urged the newly appointed workers to execute their duties with commitment and accountability for the benefit of the constituency.

He also commended Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for supporting infrastructure and community development efforts in Bichi.

“When we came to build and renovate schools in Bichi, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf gave us his full support. The same support was extended during the construction of the stadium. This is highly commendable,” he said.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the employment opportunity, describing the initiative as a step towards improving livelihoods while contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Sagir Koki (Kano Municipal), Hon. Lawan Shehu Bichi (Bichi State Constituency), APC Chairman Kano North, Hon. Sani Mukaddas, and Hon. Yusif Aliyu Tumfafi, among others.

With the official inauguration of the 253 sanitation workers, the initiative is expected to enhance environmental awareness, strengthen waste management practices, and support the overall health and sanitation structure of Bichi Local Government Area.
