President John Dramani Mahama paid a visit on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, to two Ghanaians wounded in a recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The victims were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders whose truck was ambushed by armed assailants in Titao, northern Burkina Faso. According to reports, the attackers forced the men off the vehicle, killed several, and set the truck on fire.
Accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, President Mahama extended condolences to the survivors and assured them that the Government of Ghana would cover all medical expenses.
Mahama had been on official duty in Takoradi earlier in the day but went directly to the hospital immediately upon his arrival in Accra to speak with the injured and receive first-hand details of the incident.
The Ghana Armed Forces successfully evacuated the survivors back to Ghana by air. Seven of their compatriots who lost their lives in the attack have since been buried. Those still under treatment are receiving counselling and ongoing medical care.
