Ahead of the Easter festivities, police in Kano and Benue states assured residents of heightened security to guarantee a peaceful celebration.

In Kano, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori extended Easter greetings to Christians across the state and the nation. He urged celebrations to reflect unity and peace.

According to CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, officers have been deployed to worship centers and strategic locations across the state. Heads of departments and operational commanders must maintain high vigilance throughout the festive period. Residents were also urged to report suspicious activities through police stations, emergency numbers, or the “NPF Rescue Me” app.

Meanwhile, in Benue, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu reinforced security with additional officers ahead of Easter. Commissioner of Police Ifeanyi Emenari said 14 units from 16 Police Mobile Force Squadrons, along with 250 personnel from specialized tactical teams, have been deployed to protect lives and property.

These officers work closely with state tactical teams and other security agencies. They focus on vulnerable communities, hinterlands, and public spaces. Emenari praised the IGP for the timely support and encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.

Benue has recently faced bandit attacks in several communities, making the deployment of extra personnel crucial for residents to celebrate Easter safely.
