Police ACP Slumps, Dies During Meeting in Abakaliki

An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola, has died after slumping during a management meeting at the Ebonyi State Police Command Headquarters in Abakaliki.

Popoola, who was in charge of the State Intelligence Department (SID), reportedly collapsed around 11 a.m. while the meeting was ongoing. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after developing breathing difficulties but was later confirmed dead.

Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the officer suffered a medical crisis during the meeting and could not be revived despite prompt medical attention.

The remains of the deceased officer have been deposited at the morgue of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA I), Abakaliki.

The death has thrown the police community in Ebonyi State into mourning.
