A petrol truck has killed at least six people in Ibadan after losing control on Tuesday.

The tragic accident happened along the Beere–Agodi Road and involved several vehicles.

Witnesses said the truck driver lost control at the Beere area. The vehicle first hit two tricycles, killing the passengers on the spot.

The truck then moved toward Oje Market Road, where it struck more victims. Four additional people died in the second impact.

The crash destroyed at least six tricycles, commonly known as “keke.” Several other people also suffered injuries.

Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some witnesses believe the death toll may be higher than reported. They claimed authorities had already removed several bodies from the scene.

One survivor said the truck rammed into his tricycle while he was testing it after repairs. He managed to escape alive.

A relative of one of the victims shared a painful account of his loss. He said his brother died shortly after the accident.

According to him, the deceased had just named his newborn child days before the incident.

Police authorities confirmed the accident but said they could not verify the exact number of casualties yet.

Officials moved some bodies and damaged vehicles to the Mapo Police Station for further investigation.
