Nigeria continues to confront threats from groups such as Boko Haram.

Another major insurgent group operating in the region is Islamic State West Africa Province.

The former Anambra governor also highlighted concerns about kidnapping and armed banditry in rural communities.

He questioned the effectiveness of governance if citizens cannot be adequately protected.

Obi said ensuring the safety of citizens should remain the primary responsibility of government.
