The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially sworn in 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps Members deployed to Gombe State at the Temporary Orientation Camp located at the Government Science Technical College, Amada, in Akko Local Government Area.
The colourful swearing-in ceremony marked the formal commencement of the one-year national service and attracted top government officials, judicial officers, and NYSC management staff.
Gombe Govt Assures Corps Members of Safety, Welfare
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Adamu Inuwa Ibrahim, who welcomed the Corps Members to the state and assured them of the government’s commitment to their safety, welfare, and well-being throughout their service year.
He urged the Corps Members to actively participate in all orientation camp activities and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
Oath of Allegiance Administered
The Oath of Allegiance was administered by Justice Abdulsalam Mohammad, who represented the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, officially ushering the Corps Members into national service.
NYSC Coordinator Urges Discipline, Unity
In her welcome address, the Gombe State NYSC Coordinator, Chinwe Nnenna Nwachuku, congratulated the Corps Members on their successful mobilization and deployment, urging them to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and committed to promoting national unity and integration.
She highlighted the importance of the orientation course, which includes physical drills, lectures, sports, social activities, and the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme aimed at equipping Corps Members with practical and entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance.
Nwachuku reassured the Corps Members of a peaceful and hospitable environment in Gombe State, encouraging them to embrace the service year as an opportunity for personal growth, skill development, and positive community impact.
The ceremony ended on a high note, setting a positive tone for the orientation course and the service year ahead.
