NUJ President Pledges Reforms at IIJ Alumni Inaugural Congress in Abuja Commitment to accreditation, welfare programs, and a stronger journalism future.

Nigeria union of journalists President pledges bold reforms as  International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) Alumni hold their first congress in Abuja.

The inaugural IIJ Alumni Association Congress brought together journalists, alumni, and media stakeholders, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdul, NUJ President, reaffirms commitment to reposition IIJ as a globally competitive journalism training hub.

NUJ is pursuing full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to enhance academic standards and unlock more support.

Plans unveiled include: Infrastructure improvements, Healthcare insurance scheme for journalists, Media Enhancement Bill to strengthen the profession and Certification for IIJ TV & Radio stations.

Alumni leaders pledge strong backing for reforms and strategic partnerships to restore IIJ’s excellence.

The congress ends with a unified call to strengthen governance, academic quality, and IIJ’s future as a leading journalism institution.
