NTDA Engages Initiatives on Youth-Driven Tourism Promotion

The Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Dr. Ola Awakan, has received a delegation from Visit Nigeria Initiative and Miss Tourism Nigeria Organization in Abuja.

The delegation was led by Iyal Ghraizi, Founder of Visit Nigeria, and Collette Nwadike, Chief Executive Officer of Miss Tourism Nigeria Organization.

Discussions focused on destination promotion, digital tourism engagement, cultural storytelling, and diaspora participation across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing collaboration with Miss Tourism Nigeria as a youth-driven platform for tourism advocacy and nation branding.

Preparations for the Miss Tourism Nigeria 2026 Grand Finale, scheduled for July in Lagos, were also presented to the Authority.

The 2026 edition, themed Peace Through Tourism, aims to promote youth inclusion, cultural heritage, and positive global representation of Nigeria.

Participants exchanged ideas on public-private collaboration, authentic cultural representation, and the role of creative platforms in reshaping Nigeria’s tourism narrative.

Dr. Awakan commended the initiatives and reaffirmed NTDA’s mandate to regulate, develop, promote, and market Nigeria’s tourism sector.

He expressed the Authority’s readiness to engage credible private initiatives that support sustainable tourism growth and economic diversification.
