The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched a joint nationwide campaign to enforce the Federal Government’s ban on sachet alcoholic drinks.
The campaign was flagged off at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
It is being implemented in collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
NOA is leading public sensitisation and behavioural change efforts.

The Federal Government prohibited the production and sale of alcoholic drinks in sachets and in PET or glass bottles below 200 millilitres effective January 1, 2026.
Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the move as a decisive step to protect Nigerians, especially young people.
He said cheap and easily accessible alcohol exposes minors to harmful consumption patterns.
Issa-Onilu noted that the policy followed eight years of stakeholder engagement.
He stressed that practices harmful to national wellbeing cannot continue indefinitely.
He also called on the media to support enforcement through responsible reporting.
According to him, opposition to the ban should not be framed as protest against government alone.
Director-General of NAFDAC, Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, cited a 2021 survey on underage drinking.
