Speaking at the opening of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, said the company had begun deploying new assets and revamping existing facilities to enhance storage capacity, transportation, and operational efficiency nationwide.

Ojulari described the initiative as a transformative step in the company’s bid to reposition the downstream sector for competitiveness in line with global energy transition trends.

He emphasized that the industry must move beyond competition and embrace strategic partnerships, advanced technologies, and cleaner energy alternatives to achieve both profitability and sustainability.

According to him, ongoing reforms under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) have created fresh opportunities for private and public stakeholders, driving expansions into new growth areas such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-Liquefied Natural Gas (mini-LNG) projects.

These developments, he said, require the acquisition of new technical skills and deeper investments to sustain progress.

The NNPC boss reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring energy security, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering inclusive growth through innovation and stakeholder collaboration.

The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week remains the continent’s leading platform for policy dialogue, investment partnerships, and innovation in the downstream oil and gas industry, attracting key government officials, regulators, and energy executives from across Africa and beyond.
