NNL Orders Gombe United to Pay Fine or Forfeit Points

Gombe United has been fined N2.5 million by the Nigeria National League after fans encroached onto the pitch, harassed officials, and forced the abandonment of their match against Jigawa Golden Stars.

The Nigeria National League has fined Gombe United ₦2.5 million for fans’ encroachment, harassment and intimidation of match officials during their matchday seven clash against Jigawa Golden Stars.

The league said the club breached several regulations, including failure to provide adequate security and properly control supporters at the Pantami Stadium, where the incident occurred. The match was abandoned in the final minute following the disruption.

As part of its ruling, the NNL ordered that the remaining one minute of the fixture be played behind closed doors at the New Jos Stadium in Jos. Of the total fine, ₦2 million was imposed for supporters’ misconduct, while ₦500,000 is to cover transport and accommodation costs for Jigawa Golden Stars.

Gombe United have been given until January 9, 2026, to pay the fine or face a three-point deduction in favour of Jigawa Golden Stars.
