The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has launched its Strategic Plan covering the period 2026 to 2030.
Officials said the new roadmap aims to strengthen weather services, institutional performance and climate resilience across Nigeria.
The Director-General, Charles Anosike, announced the initiative during a launch event in Abuja.
Anosike said the plan aligns NiMet’s weather and climate services with Nigeria’s national development priorities.

He explained that the strategy will improve service delivery and strengthen the agency’s performance management framework.
According to him, the plan adopts the Balanced Scorecard model to translate strategic goals into measurable results.
The framework focuses on stakeholder engagement, financial management, internal processes and organisational development.
Anosike said NiMet will institutionalise the system across five pillars supporting employee growth, partnerships and technological innovation.
Other pillars include quality service delivery and revenue diversification for sustainable institutional development.
The agency also introduced refreshed core values under the acronym I-PACE.
These values include integrity, professionalism, accountability, commitment and excellence in public service delivery.
The Managing Consultant of Balanced Scorecard West Africa, Kayode Sufianu, praised NiMet for adopting the strategy.
Officials said the new plan supports the government’s results-driven governance framework across ministries and agencies.
