Isolated thunderstorms may occur in parts of Kwara, Niger and Kogi states early in the day.

Wider thunderstorm activity is expected across the central region later in the afternoon and evening.

Southern states are expected to experience cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning.

Thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are forecast over Delta, Edo, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

Rainfall is expected to spread across most parts of southern Nigeria later in the day.

NiMet warned that strong winds may occur before thunderstorms in affected areas.

The agency advised residents to avoid open spaces and shelter during lightning storms.

Motorists were also urged to drive carefully due to slippery roads and reduced visibility.
