Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye have signed nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and strengthening diplomatic, economic and strategic relations between both countries.
The agreements were signed in Ankara during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to Türkiye, following high-level bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to official sources, the signed agreements cover key sectors including defence cooperation, energy development, trade and investment, mining, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and technology transfer.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, President Tinubu described the agreements as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s foreign policy engagement, noting that the partnership will create new opportunities for economic growth, industrial development and job creation.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with Türkiye, adding that the cooperation aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on economic diversification and global partnerships.
President Erdoğan, on his part, emphasized Türkiye’s readiness to expand trade volumes, support infrastructure development and deepen private sector collaboration with Nigeria, describing the country as a strategic partner in Africa.
The agreements are expected to enhance trade relations, promote investment flows and facilitate technical cooperation between institutions of both countries.
