Nigeria and Switzerland have taken steps to strengthen their relationship, focusing on key areas like trade, security, and economic growth.

The development followed a meeting between Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and Switzerland’s Vice President, Ignazio Cassis, in Abuja.

Shettima welcomed Cassis and his wife, Paola Rodoni Cassis, at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Both leaders later held a private meeting to discuss areas of cooperation.

During the talks, the two countries agreed to deepen ties in trade and investment. They also discussed improving economic cooperation to create more opportunities for businesses and young people.

Skills development was another key focus. Both sides expressed interest in programs that will help Nigerians gain practical skills and improve their employment prospects.

The leaders also talked about migration and security. They agreed to work closely to manage migration issues and strengthen safety in both countries.

Cultural exchange was part of the discussion as well. They said stronger cultural ties will help build mutual understanding and long-term friendship.

This meeting marks a new step in the relationship between Nigeria and Switzerland, as both countries look to grow together in different sectors.
