Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan join others at the 50th anniversary memorial of late Head of State General Murtala Ramat Muhammed.

The event marks five decades since General Murtala Muhammed’s assassination  a leader remembered for his bold reforms and national discipline during his brief tenure as Nigeria’s military Head of State (1975–1976).

Alongside Obasanjo and Jonathan, notable figures and statesmen gathered in Abuja to honour the legacy of Muhammed through speeches, reflections and commemorative activities.

Commemorations this month have included lectures and policy workshops urging reflection on Muhammed’s leadership ideals  especially on governance, unity and Africa’s place in global affairs.

Murtala Muhammed’s legacy remains influential in Nigeria’s public discourse, with calls from scholars and leaders to uphold his values of integrity, service, and national purpose.
