The newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North-West Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has conducted an assessment visit to Tidibale Community in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to strengthening security in the area.
The visit, which marked one of his first official engagements since assuming office, was aimed at evaluating the security situation following the recent safe return of residents who were earlier displaced due to bandit threats.
Speaking during the visit, Major General Koughna assured residents of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to protect lives and property, stressing that no part of the community would be allowed to fall under the control of criminal elements.
A statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, said the visit underscores the Army’s determination to restore normalcy and enable residents to resume their daily activities without fear.

According to the statement, troops have now been deployed to Tidibale to maintain a strong security presence, enhance surveillance and respond swiftly to any emerging threats.
Major General Koughna also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities, noting that community collaboration remains critical to achieving lasting peace.
“By working together, we can collectively strengthen peace and security in our communities,” the GOC said.
Responding on behalf of the community, a traditional ruler, Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for the timely intervention, describing the visit as a morale booster that has renewed residents’ confidence in the military’s efforts to restore peace and stability in the area.
Earlier, the GOC had received a comprehensive operational briefing from the Commanding Officer of 26 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha, at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Isa, providing an update on the prevailing security situation and ongoing operations.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its resolve to sustain coordinated operations and strengthen partnerships with local communities to ensure enduring peace and security across the North-West region.
