The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) are exploring new areas of collaboration to enhance coordinated humanitarian interventions across Nigeria.

This followed a visit by a high-level ECHO delegation to the NEMA headquarters in Abuja, led by Mr. Giuseppe Angelini, Head of Unit for Central and West Africa at DG ECHO Headquarters in Belgium. The team was accompanied by representatives from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), and the French-based humanitarian organization, 3iS.

The meeting served as a platform for strategic engagement between NEMA and its international partners to review ongoing humanitarian operations and explore fresh opportunities for cooperation in disaster management and emergency response.

Welcoming the delegation, NEMA Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar commended ECHO and its partners for their continued support to Nigeria’s humanitarian efforts.
