NEMA Distributes Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Ogbaru

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to residents affected by recent flooding in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra State.

The intervention, coordinated by NEMA’s Enugu Operations Office, took place in Odekpe community in collaboration with the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) and the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS).

The distribution team was received by the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Afam Ogene, alongside community leaders and beneficiaries.

Before the commencement of the exercise, the officials conducted an inspection of the relief items to ensure accountability and proper allocation.

Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Head of Enugu Operations Office, represented by Mrs. Shantel Chukwu, condoled with the affected families and assured them of continued government support. She noted that the materials were provided to cushion the hardship caused by the flooding and appealed for calm and orderliness during the process.

Hon. Ogene, responding on behalf of the community, expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and commended NEMA’s leadership for prioritizing communities impacted by natural disasters. He also called for sustained collaboration to prevent future flood occurrences in the constituency.

The relief materials, packaged in food baskets, were distributed directly to beneficiaries by officials of NEMA, NRCS, and the LEMC.
