The National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that the Singa Market fire in Kano State has been fully extinguished.
The blaze was contained through a coordinated emergency response involving several government and private firefighting agencies.
Personnel and equipment were deployed from NEMA, Kano State Emergency Management Agency, and the Federal Fire Service.
Other responders included the Kano State Fire Service, the Nigerian Air Force, and private sector fire units.
However, pockets of fire remained in some areas of the market, requiring sustained firefighting operations into Sunday afternoon.

Emergency teams demonstrated strong inter-agency coordination, preventing the inferno from spreading to nearby buildings and residential areas.
Security agencies maintained a presence at the market to ensure safety and protect salvaged goods.
NEMA’s Kano Operations Office continues to monitor the situation in collaboration with Kano State Emergency Management Agency.
Preliminary assessments show extensive damage to shops, market stalls, motorcycles, and stored goods.
The Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, praised the swift response of all participating agencies.
Authorities say further assessments will determine the full scale of losses and next recovery steps.
