NCPWD Honours Dr. Samuel Ankeli at 61, Hails His Role in Advancing Disability Rights

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has celebrated Dr. Samuel Ode Ankeli (MON), former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Disability Matters, as he marks his 61st birthday.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, described Dr. Ankeli as a visionary leader and pioneer advocate whose relentless efforts led to the establishment of the NCPWD.

Hon. Gufwan lauded Dr. Ankeli’s lifelong dedication to promoting the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Nigeria, noting that his work continues to inspire advocates nationwide.

“Dr. Ankeli remains a true icon of inclusion whose leadership and dedication have shaped the disability landscape in Nigeria,” the statement read.

“On behalf of the Management and Staff of the Commission, I extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to him on this special day. May Almighty God grant him more years of good health, wisdom, and fulfillment.”

The Executive Secretary also prayed for continued strength and greater accomplishments for Dr. Ankeli in his service to humanity and national development.
