NBA Seeks Stronger Partnership with EFCC

The Nigerian Bar Association has called for deeper collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The call targets corruption and unethical conduct among lawyers and security personnel.

NBA made the appeal during visits to EFCC Lagos offices on Monday.

The delegation came from the NBA Lagos Branch Anti-Corruption Committee.

Committee chairman Udochi Iheanacho said the visits aimed to strengthen cooperation.

She said NBA wants joint action against misconduct within legal and security institutions.

Iheanacho revealed that all NBA branches now have anti-corruption committees.

She linked the move to declining public trust in the legal profession.

She urged EFCC support for investigations and enforcement.

NBA Lagos chairman Uchenna Ogunedo-Akingbade stressed zero tolerance for corruption.

She said NBA committees will promote ethical conduct among lawyers and officers.

EFCC officials welcomed the initiative and promised full cooperation.

They described NBA as a strategic partner in the anti-graft effort.

They said EFCC respects lawyers and suspects in its operations.

EFCC legal head Deborah Adamu-Eteh urged NBA to discipline erring members.

She warned that unprofessional conduct damages the legal profession’s image.
