NAPTIP Condemns Sexual Assaults at Festival in Delta State

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has condemned sexual assaults reported at a festival in Ozoro, Delta State.

The agency described the incidents as serious violations of human rights and the dignity of women and girls.

NAPTIP said the acts constitute gender-based violence and must be addressed through strict legal action.

It commended the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State for responding swiftly to the situation.

Police authorities confirmed the arrest of several suspects linked to the incident.

Those arrested reportedly include the event organiser and a community leader.

NAPTIP said it will support ongoing investigations to ensure justice for affected victims.

The agency also pledged continued collaboration with law enforcement to prevent similar incidents in future.

It emphasised the need for communities to protect women and girls from abuse and violence.

NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable groups and promoting accountability.
