The Federal Government’s N300bn power intervention for federal universities and teaching hospitals has stalled due to the non release of funds approved in the 2025 budget.
The project, aimed at providing stable electricity through solar hybrid and renewable energy systems, has recorded zero progress.
Confirming the development, the Minister of Power’s spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, said no funds have been released for implementation.
The initiative was introduced to address persistent blackouts in tertiary institutions and hospitals, many of which rely heavily on diesel generators.
Furthermore, lawmakers said the project would reduce energy costs, improve efficiency, and ensure uninterrupted services in healthcare and education.
Until budgetary releases are made, the planned electricity upgrade for universities and teaching hospitals remains on hold.
