Meta Targets Personal Superintelligence in 2026

Meta Platforms Inc. has reported strong business performance for 2025, revealing that more than 3.5 billion people now use at least one of its applications daily.

As the company intensifies its push toward what it describes as “personal superintelligence” in 2026.

Speaking during the company’s quarterly earnings call, Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook and WhatsApp each recorded more than two billion daily active users, while Instagram trailed closely behind.

He attributed the company’s revenue growth to record holiday season demand and improved advertising performance driven by artificial intelligence tools.

Zuckerberg said Meta is entering a new phase of artificial intelligence development, with plans to begin rolling out new AI models and products in the coming months.

According to him, the company rebuilt the foundation of its AI systems in 2025 and expects steady progress throughout the year as new models are released.

He explained that Meta is working on integrating large language models into the recommendation systems that power Facebook, Instagram, Threads and its advertising platforms.

The goal, he said, is to deliver more personalized content experiences that align with individual user goals, interests and preferences.

The company also announced plans to expand AI-powered commerce tools, including agent-driven shopping features designed to help users find products more efficiently across Meta’s platforms.

Zuckerberg said WhatsApp will play a central role in this expansion, particularly in business messaging and customer engagement services.

On hardware development, Zuckerberg said Meta is prioritizing investments in smart glasses and wearable technology, describing them as a critical platform for the future of artificial intelligence interaction.

He disclosed that sales of Meta’s AI-powered glasses more than tripled in 2025, positioning them among the fastest-growing consumer electronics products globally.

For its Reality Labs division, which oversees virtual and augmented reality projects, Meta expects financial losses in 2026 to remain similar to the previous year.

However, the company projects this period will mark the peak of its investment phase before gradually reducing losses while expanding mobile and virtual reality ecosystems.

Meta also announced continued heavy investment in infrastructure through its newly launched Meta Compute initiative.

The program focuses on expanding data centers, energy capacity and custom silicon development to support AI training and deployment at scale.

Zuckerberg said the company is working to reduce long-term infrastructure costs by optimizing technology and supply chains.

In addition, Meta confirmed the appointment of Dina Powell McCormick as President and Vice Chairman.

“She will oversee partnerships with governments, sovereign institutions and strategic investors aimed at expanding Meta’s long-term operational capacity and supporting economic development in host communities.”

Zuckerberg said 2026 is expected to be a turning point for workplace transformation driven by artificial intelligence.

He noted that Meta is adopting AI-native tools internally, flattening team structures and empowering individual contributors to improve productivity and accelerate innovation.

He concluded by reaffirming the company’s focus on building personalized AI products, expanding global infrastructure and strengthening its workforce model, describing the coming year as a critical phase for Meta’s long-term technology and business strategy.
