The office of Abubakar Malami described the EFCC’s takeover of his properties as an “unlawful invasion.” EFCC officials, accompanied by armed security personnel, entered Malami’s residential and business premises without presenting a valid court order. EFCC operatives took two individuals into custody during the operation.

Malami’s office said the case is still before the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. The court has not issued any ruling or order authorizing the invasion.

The office added that an earlier interim forfeiture order from January 6, 2026, had expired after 14 days and could not justify EFCC’s actions.

The statement noted that the operation followed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s visit, raising concerns about possible political motives. Malami’s office called the action a “clear violation of due process” and an “abuse of power.”

While reaffirming support for accountability and anti-corruption, Malami’s office emphasized that such efforts must follow legal procedures.

The statement warned that the operation undermines the rule of law and democracy. Malami intends to continue cooperating with judicial processes while pursuing legal avenues to defend his rights and reputation.
