The Gombe State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Ahmad, says leadership tests responsibility, experience, and perspective.
He shared this view during an appearance on Spotlight, a programme on S24 TV, where he spoke on governance and public service.
According to him, his understanding of leadership changed after he assumed office. Before joining the government, he believed leaders could solve problems quickly.
“Before coming into the system, everything feels simple and can be done in the blink of an eye,” he said.
However, he explained that real leadership is more complex. It requires patience, structure, and careful decision-making.
Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about Nigeria’s future. He said the country has strong potential for growth and development.
“Nigeria is a bright country, and with the right arrangements, things will certainly get better,” he added.
His remarks reflect a growing awareness among public officials about the realities of governance. They also highlight the need for realistic expectations and strategic leadership.
