An Islamic scholar, Muhammad Chiroma Aji, has called on Nigerians to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for their leaders rather than curse or insult them.
Speaking during the ongoing Ramadan Tafsir in Abuja, Ustaz Chiroma Aji said Ramadan is a special period when prayers are accepted, urging citizens to seek divine guidance and support for those in authority.
He noted that leadership is a heavy responsibility that people may not fully understand until they experience it themselves, adding that insults and vulgar language will not improve governance.
The cleric, however, reminded leaders to fear Allah and fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity, stressing that leadership is temporary and not a lifetime position.
He also urged them to reflect on the leadership example of Prophet Muhammad, who ruled with justice, compassion, and accountability.
He concluded by urging both leaders and citizens to use Ramadan as a time for reflection, prayers, and positive change.
